Institute presentation
The University of Turin is one of the largest Italian Universities, with about 70,000 students, 3,900 employees, 1,800 post-graduate and post-doctoral students. Scientific research and training are performed in 27 Departments, encompassing all disciplines. The Department of Medical Sciences of UNITO accommodates the Cancer Epidemiology Unit (CEU), one of the main Italian epidemiological research centres. CEU has specific expertise in epidemiological and biostatistical methods, particularly in life-course, cancer, clinical, occupational, and molecular epidemiology. The Unit has a long tradition in coordination of and participation in large national and international epidemiological studies. In particular researchers at CEU coordinate the Italian birth cohort NINFEA (Nascita e INFanzia: gli Effetti dell’Ambiente ) and the Turin centre of the Italian birth cohort Piccolipiù. Researchers from other UNITO Departments with specific expertise in economics and health inequalities will contribute to LifeCycle.
